PURPOSE:
To accept The City of Doraville's notice to terminate their weekly residential collections service, effective 5/30/2025. The City of Doraville's City Manager, informed Sanitation in writing, 180 days prior to the termination date, via a letter dated 12/1/2024, in accordance with Article 13 of the agreement of their intent to terminate the weekly residential collections service. Their decision was reached after a review of the city's needs, priorities and strategic objectives was done. Each City of Doraville parcel/homeowner will be billed for residential collection services rendered from January 2025 - May 2025, prorating the $315 annual residential assessment fee. The commercial collections services portion of the Intergovernmental Solid Waste Agreement will remain in place, with DeKalb County Sanitation being the sole provider of sanitation services for all city of Doraville commercial customers. The new private sector residential collection vendor will not be allowed to bring the solid waste (garbage, recycling, yard debris) collected in the City of Doraville to the North Transfer Station, Central Transfer Station or Seminole Road Landfill for disposal. Private sector solid waste companies are prohibited from using any DeKalb County Sanitation facility.
