PURPOSE:
To allocate $50,000 of ARPI funding to Atlanta Humane Society to support their mobile vet services in DeKalb County
NEED/IMPACT:
The proposed mobile veterinary unit repairs and enhancements are necessary to sustain and expand Atlanta Humane Society and Remedy Pet Care’s ability to provide free veterinary services throughout DeKalb County. The mobile unit helps reach underserved communities where pet owners may face financial or transportation barriers to care.
Repairs and upgrades will improve the unit’s safety, reliability, and efficiency, allowing staff to provide more accessible vaccine clinics and preventive care services. These improvements will support families with vaccines, wellness services, education, and pet food assistance.
This investment will strengthen long-term mobile outreach efforts, improve access to affordable veterinary care, and support public health by helping prevent the spread of diseases such as rabies.
FISCAL IMPACT:
An amount not to exceed $50,000 from District 2 ARPI (00202.582206.100.000.000)
RECOMMENDATION:
