PURPOSE:
Amani Women Center (AWC) is requesting funding to provide services and training under the Amani Sewing Program and rental assistance for program participants who statistically are impacted by the economic downfall resulting from the COVID pandemic. AWC's holistic approach allows program participants additional help in 10 different languages towards translation and interpretation.

AWC is requesting $50,000 in funding to train and assist additional 12 women by end of 2024. Their objective is to assist this underserved population of mostly African and Afghanistan refugee women within Dekalb County gain life skills that translates to livable wages and improves their economic wellbeing.

Total training cost per participant including all supplies per year and AWC will apply all funding toward the program and have opted not to collect any administrative fees:
? $3,199.70 x 12 = $38,396
? Rental assistance limit is $967 per person. ($967 x 12 = $11,604)

This referenced appropriation and project has been vetted and approved by the DeKalb ARP Workgroup.

NEED/IMPACT:
Most Refugee women are unable to work and contribute to their household income because they face several barriers accessing jobs and the lack of skills. The AWC program targets African and Afghanistan women refugees with training and employment opportunities who have been impacted by the overwhelming impacts that encompass ramifications of COVID.
