PURPOSE:
To approve the resolution of the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners to create the DeKalb Arts and Culture Council (DACC).
NEED/IMPACT:
Arts and culture are essential to the enrichment of community life, fostering creativity, diversity, and economic vitality. A dedicated arts and culture council is necessary to provide strategic direction, oversight, and advocacy for arts and culture initiatives within DeKalb County. The establishment of the DeKalb Arts and Culture Council will promote collaboration among artists, cultural organizations, municipalities, other county-based organizations and the larger community; as well as attract tourists and visitors, support economic development, increase cultural vitality and encourage civic engagement. The DACC will be instrumental as we move forward with the DeKalb County Arts Master Plan process
