PURPOSE:

To accept an increase of $563,020 to the 2025 contract between the State of Georgia’s Department of Human Services (DHS) and the District Attorney’s Office for the period of July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025; and

To authorize the CEO to execute all necessary documents.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The need for this contract is to continue the establishment, enforcement, and modification of child support orders and the processing of child support petitions on behalf of the DeKalb County custodial parents, residents, and citizens. The program, one of the largest of its kind in Georgia, generates over $15.5 million in annual child support payments.

 

The original child support contract was accepted by the B.O.C. on July 23, 2024. The increase of $563,023 brings the total program funding amount to $2,517,669 comprised of a new total of federal funding in the amount of $1,661,661, State funding in the amount of $509,070. The increase consists of $371,595 in federal funds and $191,428 in State funds. The required County match of $346,938 remains the same.

 

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

The $346,938 required cash match was previously budgeted. No additional funds are being requested.
