PURPOSE:
To consider accepting -$216,241.00 for the DeKalb County Accountability Courts (Adult Felony Drug Court, Felony Mental Health Court, & Veterans Court) from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council through the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) via CARES Act intended for Housing solutions for participants and appropriating the amount to a new Grant Fund.
NEED/IMPACT:
The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council has awarded -$216,241.00 to the DeKalb County Accountability Courts. Funding will be used toward Emergency Shelter (provide temporary shelter for homeless, that does not require housing leases/agreements), and Rapid Rehousing (assist individuals enrolled in Emergency Shelter program to permanent housing) for participants enrolled in Accountability Court Programs. Funding provided for case management, rapid rehousing rent, application fees, security deposits, first & last month rent, utility payments, hotel/motel fees, and laptops. The grant period is from July 1, 2022 through September 30, 2022. No match is required.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for all services provided by Criminal Justice Coordinating Council Grant in the amount of $216,241.00. Funding must be spent by September 30, 2022.
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
To approve the resolution and authorize the chief executive officer to execute all necessary documents. To accept $216,241.00 for DeKalb County Accountability Courts from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council and appropriate the amount to a new Grant Fund.
