PURPOSE:
To approve the appropriation of $50,000 from the American Rescue Plan grant funds assigned to the account reserved for District 7 to the DeKalb County Juvenile Justice Court to assist with programming and interventions to reinforce positive development for at-risk youth by providing education and training, job skills, mentoring and other services, as described in more detail in the Attachment, to mitigate the public health emergency created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
NEED/IMPACT:
The Coronavirus pandemic has impacted many families in District 7 and throughout DeKalb County who have experienced a loss of income, housing insecurity, as well as a disruption in school and essential services. Public relief is needed to counter the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The DeKalb County Juvenile Justice Court in partnership with community nonprofits will provide education and training, job skills, mentoring and other wrap around services to support youth and families in the court, school, and the community. Services provided will reduce the social, economic, and psychological impact of COVID-19 on DeKalb County youth and enable them to thrive and flourish in DeKalb communities.
FISCAL IMPACT:
