PURPOSE:
To allocate $150,000 to the Decatur Book Festival being held on October 4 & 5, 2024 in Downtown Decatur.
NEED/IMPACT:
The Decatur Book Festival, founded in 2006 is one of the country’s largest and most respected independent book festivals. With a mission to encourage a love of the written and spoken word by engaging a diverse community of readers, writers, and creative spirits, the Decatur Book Festival is returning in 2024 after a one-year pause. DeKalb County will be a major sponsor for the 2024 festival. Some additional sponsors include Emory University, the City of Decatur, Georgia Humanities and DeKalb County Public Library.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$150,000 allocation from non-departmental general fund
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
To approve the resolution and authorize the chief executive officer or his designee to execute all necessary documents.
