PURPOSE:
*To consider approving an amendment to the performance period for the GY2022 Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) grant, extending the date from May 30, 2025 to August 15, 2025 to allow for receipt of project equipment; and
* To consider accepting amended project equipment purchased by UASI on behalf of the DeKalb County Police and Fire Rescue Departments in an amount not to exceed $10,073.24; and
*To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute the necessary documents.

NEED/IMPACT:
The multi-project Memorandum of Understanding governs the use of equipment provided by the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) to assist the DeKalb County Police and Fire Rescue Departments in preventing, protecting, responding to, and recovering from threats or acts of terrorism, and in building capabilities that enhance homeland security for the Atlanta metropolitan area.

This item represents a pass-through grant, in which UASI procured the approved equipment on behalf of DeKalb County. The original Board of Commissioners agenda item (2025-0432) was approved on April 3, 2025. Due to a temporary federal funding pause the original performance period end date of May 30, 2025 was extended to August 15, 2025. This extension allows the County to formally accept the equipment and remain in compliance with grant requirements.
