PURPOSE:
The Hawks Foundation, Inc. has agreed to partner with DeKalb County Recreation Parks and Cultural Affairs Department to make major renovations to the outdoor basketball court at the NH Scott Park. The capital improvements will consist of leveling of the courts, pouring of a new base, installation of the playing surface, new backboards, goals and fencing. The Department is seeking authorization to partner with The Hawks Foundation and to receive a donation of $64,350 in capital improvements at NH Scott Park. The Foundation in partnership with the RPCA Department is committed to enhancing the outdoor basketball courts for youth interested in basketball and honing of their skills.
NEED/IMPACT:
The renovated outdoor court will provide the park users access to the outdoor court during all opening hours of the park. The use of the outdoor court expands and enhances the overall health and wellness opportunities to combat obesity and the maintenance of weight.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The accepting of this grant will increase the capital outlay for RPCA by the amount of the grant, $64,350.

Recommended Action
Authorize the Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs Department in partnership with The Atlanta Hawks Foundation, Inc. to accept the donation of $64,350 to construct the outdoor basketball court in NH Scott Park and to authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents for implementation of this project.
