PURPOSE:
To consider accepting and appropriating up to $2,704,000.00 of GDOT funds for acquisition of right-of-way and easements needed for the Kensington MARTA Station Shared Use Path and Road Diets project;
To consider reserving $676,000.00 of SPLOST 1 funds from line 1B - Federal and State Transportation Project Match Funds for Transportation Purposes for this project; and
To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents for completion of this project.

NEED/IMPACT:
This project was included in DeKalb County's 2019 Transportation Improvement Program funding application
to the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC). Work includes road diets on Mountain Drive and Kensington Road, new shared use path, new sidewalk, and three new mid-block crossings. The project is currently under design using SPLOST funds. GDOT will provide 80 percent funding for right-of-way acquisition for the project up to $2,704,000.00. When the project proceeds to the construction phase in FY 2028, additional GDOT funds up $3,200,000.00 are available to go toward the estimated $7,000,000.00 construction cost.

FISCAL IMPACT:
SPLOST 1 funds in the amount of $676,000.00 will be needed to cover the county's share of the right-of-way acquisition costs. Additional SPLOST funds will be needed when the project reaches the construction phase.
