PURPOSE:
To approve an amount not to accede $5,000.00 of District 6 ARPI funding to support 2 programs benefiting veterans in DeKalb County:
• The Department of Veteran’s Affairs Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Center (PRRC) Art in Community Program
• Financial aid for veterans to participate in Callanwolde’s general programming
NEED/IMPACT:
Veterans face a high rate of mental health concerns following civilian reintegration, with 41% of veterans in need of mental health treatment in 2024. Isolation, loss of community, and lack of social support make veterans 1.5 times more likely to complete suicide. Protective factors have been shown to improve when individuals participate in sustained, community-based social supports and programs that promote a strong sense of belonging. This funding will support Callanwolde’s efforts to deliver a coordinated system of community interventions, allowing the VA to implement evidence-based practices and clinical oversight to support the healing and wellness of DeKalb County veterans.

An amount not to exceed $5,000.00 to the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center from-Board of Commissioners - District 6 -ARP Interest Fund 00206.582206.100.000.0000
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
To approve the allocation not to exceed $5,000.00 from the District 6 ARPI Fund to the Callanwolde Fine Art Center and authorize the Chief Executive Officer or her designee to execute all the necessary documents.
