Body
Information Contact: Reginald Wells, Director of Watershed Management
Phone Number: 770.621.7208
PURPOSE:
To adopt a resolution that will reduce the cost for residents of the county to retrofit homes with low-flow/high efficiency plumbing fixtures that will reduce the overall water use within the county and sanitary sewer overflows throughout the county.
NEED/IMPACT:
The resolution will incentivize county residents to replace inefficient toilets to improve water conservation efforts and increase sewer capacity that will help reduce sanitary sewer overflows. The program will also help the county meet Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District and Federal Consent Decree requirements.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Immediate cost is $1,000,000 to fund the rebate account, but that cost will be offset over time by savings in emergency response for overflows and creating additional sewer capacity for new development within the county.
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
To approve the resolution and authorize the chief executive officer to execute all necessary documents.
