PURPOSE:
To appropriate $1,860,000 from the Tourist Product Development CIP Account to fund various projects.
NEED/IMPACT:
As part of the proposed 2022 mid-year budget amendment, the administration is proposing to appropriate funds from the portion of proceeds from the Hotel/ Motel Tax are set aside for tourism product development.
In conjunction with DeKalb County’s Bicentennial, CEO Thurmond has proposed funding to initiate the restoration of DeKalb County’s Historic Courthouse.
Additional projects were identified through budget requests from the Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Affairs and a recommendation from the Planning, Economic Development, and Community Services Committee.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Appropriation of $1,860,000 from account 104027.89110.541401.01.601643 to fund the following projects:
DeKalb Historic Courthouse - $150,000
PATH Repairs/ Rehabilitation - $400,000
Stone Mountain Trail Repairs/ Rehabilitation - $250,000
Property Acquisitions for Green Space/ PATH Connections - $550,000
Master Plan at Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve - $165,000
Stabilization and Exterior Restoration at the Historic Ragsdale House - $75,000
Callanwolde Winter Living Room Terrace - $270,000

To approve the resolution and authorize the chief executive officer to execute all necessary documents.
