PURPOSE:
An item to allocate $5,000 to the DeKalb Schools Educational Foundation, Inc. from the District 7 Reserve for Appropriations funds to support State of the District educational programming, including teacher-led and student-inspired projects that advance literacy, strengthen teacher enrichment, and promote mental and physical well-being, as well as funding field trips so all students can participate regardless of ability to pay; during the 2025-26 school year, these grants are expected to benefit 4,000 students and 200 teachers across the District.


NEED/IMPACT:
Allocating $5,000 to the DeKalb Schools Educational Foundation, Inc. is important because the State of the District initiative directly strengthens educational programming across the county by funding teacher-led and student-inspired projects that improve literacy, support teacher enrichment, and promote mental and physical well-being in our school communities. This investment also ensures equitable access to field trips so that every child can participate regardless of a family's ability to pay, expanding learning beyond the classroom and enriching student experiences. During the 2025-26 school year, these Foundation grants are expected to reach 4,000 students and 200 teachers across the District, making this allocation a high-impact contribution to academic success, educator support, and student wellness.
