PURPOSE:
The DeKalb County Board of Commission to approve this resolution to name the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center Amphitheater in honor of Andrew Keenan and request that under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the appropriate County departments install appropriate signage and implement this designation in accordance with County policies and procedures.
NEED/IMPACT:
DeKalb County owns and serves as steward of the historic Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, one of the County's premier cultural and educational assets, dedicated to enriching the lives of residents through the visual, literary, and performing arts.
Andrew Keenan has served as Executive Director of the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center since December 2017 and will retire in December 2026 after nine years of distinguished leadership and dedicated public service. Under Mr. Keenan's leadership, Callanwolde Fine Arts Center has expanded its artistic programming, strengthened its financial and organizational foundation, enhanced its role as a cultural destination for DeKalb County, and broadened access to arts education for underserved communities, students, veterans, and residents throughout the County.
The Board of Directors of the Callanwolde Foundation has formally requested that the amphitheater be named in honor of Andrew Keenan in recognition of his extraordinary leadership, lasting contributions, and enduring legacy at the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center.
