PURPOSE:

To appropriate an amount not to exceed $1,564 of District 6 ARPI funds to Indian Creek Elementary School in Clarkston, GA as a grant match for their project “Planting the Greatest Garden Ever!”

NEED/IMPACT:

In April, Indian Creek Elementary School was awarded the Student Innovation Grant Certificate of Achievement “in recognition of [their] extraordinary contribution to improving [their] local environment” with their project “Planting the Greatest Garden Ever!” This project coincided with school curriculum education and allowed students to receive a well-rounded, experiential education as they learned about plants, rocks, and soil. The original grant funds purchased needed supplies such as seeds, soil, and gardening tools. Since receiving the grant, students have planted and harvested the spring garden. These additional funds from District 6 will serve as a grant match allowing the project to continue. This project enhances school curriculum by providing experiential learning opportunities and provides well rounded environmental education that incorporates growing food.

FISCAL IMPACT:

An amount not to exceed $1,564 to Indian Creek Elementary School from-Board of Commissioners - District 6 -ARP Interest Fund 00206.582206.100.000.0000
