PURPOSE:
To consider approval of a 20-year Lease Agreement Extension for contract No. DTFA06-86-L-10056 between with the FAA and DeKalb County for ground occupied by Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) effective October 1, 2026; and
To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute the Agreement.
NEED/IMPACT:
The Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) at DeKalb Peachtree Airport (PDK) controls traffic for the second busiest airport in Georgia. This tower is critical for the safe and efficient operation of air traffic not only for the airport but for the metro Atlanta area. The FAA maintains a continuous need to occupy the leased premises.
Approval of this lease will allow the FAA to continue to serve PDK by supporting air traffic and provide safe and efficient use of the airspace.
The County Attorney has reviewed the documents and approved them as to form pending Governing Authority approval
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no cost to the County.
