PURPOSE:
Asking board to consider accepting the VOCA grant of $212,075, awarded to the Solicitor’s Office for the purpose of continued funding for the offices Victim-Witness Assistance Program (VWAP). Awarded funds support the salary and fringe benefits of four (4) Victim-Witness Advocates.
Grant cycle is from October 1, 2021, through September 31, 2022.
NEED/IMPACT:
The grant supports our ongoing efforts of providing victim-centered supportive services and resources, allocated funds for trainings/professional development for the advocates, and supplemental funds for supplies strictly related to service provision. This additional funding affords our office the opportunity to expand our hiring ability to reach more victims and try more victim-involved cases.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The award provides the Solicitors Office with much needed supplemental funding to use for victim-centered services. A county match of $53,019 is required. The match has been included in our annual operating account under Transfer to Grants. No additional asks from the county for funds will be made.

To approve the resolution and authorize the chief executive officer / chief operating officer to execute all necessary documents.
