PURPOSE:

To consider accepting grant funds from GDOT’s Multimodal Safety and Access Grant. Funds will be used by Tucker-Northlake CID to improve sidewalk connectivity at 4721 and 4279 Lavista Road. GDOT will commit up to $23,940 or 70% of the final project cost, whichever is less. To acquire grant funds, a government sponsor is required.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

This proposed project would construct 210 feet of sidewalk in front of 4271 and 4279 Lavista Road (SR 236), located in the Northlake Commercial District. The project includes grading, removal of curb and gutter at ADA ramp locations, installation of ADA ramps, thermoplastic striping of crosswalks at Lavista Executive Park Drive, sod replacement, removal and reset of sign posts, relocation of a water meter, relocation of two backflow preventers, plus mobilization and traffic control. No right-of-way acquisition is required.

Recommended Action

To authorize the Presiding Officer of the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners to execute all necessary documents to consider accepting grant funds from GDOT’s Multimodal Safety and Access Grant. Funds will be used by Tucker-Northlake CID to improve sidewalk connectivity at 4721 and 4279 Lavista Road.
