PURPOSE:
To accept the funding from the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) for the FY2026 Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant Program, (Supplemental Grant) and

To authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute the necessary documents for this program.

NEED/IMPACT:
The Georgia DOT's Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant Program (LMIG) provides funding subject to appropriation by the Legislature, for local resurfacing of streets and other maintenance and improvement projects. The County has almost two hundred miles of streets rated 30 or worse in the Pavement Condition Index, which warrant resurfacing in addition to other safety maintenance needs. Since FY2012, the DOT no longer bids this work themselves, but instead provides reimbursement to the County for maintenance projects. This year FY2025 in additional to the normal LMIG grant, the DOT has allotted an LMIG Supplemental grant, the amount appropriated for DeKalb County is ($5,267,136.32). There is no County match for these funds. The County has applied for and received the funding. The county has identified two major safety maintenance projects for the funds use.
1. Sidewalk repair and rehabilitation for multiple locations, County Wide
2. Road Markings replacement and upgrade, for multiple corridors, County Wide

FISCAL IMPACT:
No Cost to County
