PURPOSE:

A resolution extending the moratorium on the acceptance of applications relating to the establishment or expansion of Data Centers.

NEED/IMPACT:

The proposed extension of the moratorium allows County Staff and governing authority time to study the impacts of data centers on the public safety and general welfare of County residents and County operations, as well as to craft and potentially adopt regulations to counter or ameliorate any such negative impacts.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The proposed moratorium is not expected to have a direct fiscal impact on the County. Any indirect fiscal impacts associated with staff research, legal review, public engagement, or future ordinance development are expected to be absorbed within existing departmental resources.
