PURPOSE:

A Resolution Of The DeKalb County Board Of Commissioners Requesting The Administration And Planning Department To Update The Recommended Substitute For Text Amendment 2025-0972 Regarding Data Center Regulations.

NEED/IMPACT:

DeKalb County is currently considering Text Amendment 2025-0972, which seeks to establish definitions and development standards for data centers within various industrial and office zoning districts. The Board of Commissioners has deferred action on this item until May 2026 to allow for additional community input and legislative refinement. Super District 6 Commissioner Ted Terry has proposed critical amendments to the existing text to ensure sustainable and community-focused growth. These specific amendments are not currently reflected in the Planning Department’s official recommendation or the current public-facing substitute. The Board of Commissioners believes in maximum transparency and providing the public with ample time to review the specific legislative language that will be under consideration in May.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Unknown at this time.

RECOMMENDATION:
