PURPOSE:
To consider rescinding Traffic Calming District Number 09-18-04 and adopting the attached resolution creating Traffic Calming District Number 17-18-08 in Land Lot 108 of the 18th District, to consider authorizing the removal of the center islands and the installation of traffic calming measures (speed tables) and appropriate signage on Beech Haven Road and to continue assessing all properties in the affected area an annual maintenance cost of $25.00
NEED/IMPACT:
Speeding has been confirmed on Beech Haven Road, which meets the criteria for traffic calming measures. Owners of 80.00% of the eligible properties in the identified affected area have signed the petition to remove the center islands and replace with speed tables. The public hearing has been advertised and appropriate signs have been posted notifying residents in the area.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost of initial installation of traffic calming measures is included in the Roads & Drainage Budget. The estimated cost is $15,000. All properties in the affected area will continue to be assessed a yearly maintenance cost of $25.00 during the life of the traffic calming measures.
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
Adopt the attached resolution to rescind Traffic Calming District Number 09-18-04 and to create Traffic Calming District Number 17-18-08 in Land Lot 108 of the 18th District; and authorize the removal of center islands and installation of traffic calming measures (speed tables) and appropriate signage on Beech Haven Road in the district; and to continue to assess all properties in the affected area of the district an annual $25.00 maintenance cost.
