PURPOSE:
To consider authorizing the addition of a new vehicle to the DeKalb County fleet utilizing funds from an opioid settlement grant award for the Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Program.

NEED/IMPACT:
The MAT Program entails a combined approach to treat substance/opioid use disorders post inmate discharge. From a reentry standpoint, it is imperative that the patients (former inmates) continue receiving their medication regimen post discharge until the treatment is complete for continuity of care purposes and to minimize re-entry/recidivism.

The new vehicle will be assigned to the Sheriff's Office Health Services MAT Program to assist staff with post discharge treatment to include, but not limited to, the drop off medications, prescriptions, and supplies for the patient at treatment centers for continuity of care. Assigning the vehicle to the MAT Program will facilitate continuity of care along with conducting training at facilities where DeKalb deputies are assigned such as DeKalb County courts and field operations.

FISCAL IMPACT:
None. The funding is available in budget string 63290.542101.290.000.0000. The Sheriff's Office will utilize funds from the disbursement of the opioid settlement approved on July 8, 2025 (Agenda Item #2025-0657). The Sheriff's Office received the disbursement notification in the form of a grant award notification. Attached is the grant award notification dated July 30, 2025.
