PURPOSE:
To amend Chapter 14 principally to modify the Floodplain Management regulations to comply with the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and higher Metropolitan area standards.
NEED/IMPACT:
To bring the DeKalb County Land Development regulations into compliance with the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District (MNGWPD) model ordinance while supporting the new Flood Insurance Study (FIS) and resulting new Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) for DeKalb County.

Recommended Action
To adopt the attached ordinance to amend the Floodplain regulations of Chapter 14 and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents to maintain the County’s compliance with the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District (MNGWPD) model ordinance while adopting the new Flood Insurance Study (FIS) and resulting new Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) for DeKalb County, per Code Section: 14-412.
