PURPOSE:
This funding supports approved agenda item 2023-1539 for the Pendleton Group to provide assistance in coordinating the planning and the finding a reliable financing option for construction and operation. This effort focuses on insuring that the planning effort moves forward at a coordinated level involving all those with interest. Finding suitable financing options will include the State of Georgia and the Federal Government which will require finding a source for the local matching funds required.
The extended agreement was for 2 months, November and December 2023, at $10K/month or a total of $20K. Commissioner Terry has extended the contract for January, Feb, and March at the same rate of 10K/month/a total of $30K. The commitment to this project $50,000.
NEED/IMPACT:
This D6 funding was previously approved as a 2023/2024 commitment to the Pendleton Group for to assist coordinating the planning and design for transit for South DeKalb focusing on the area generally surrounding the Candler Road (SR 155) (Exit 65) and Interstate 20 (I-20) interchange. This proposal from Pendleton Group will include coordination and communication between all the local governments involved including but not limited to, Georgia Department of Transportation, MARTA, Atlanta Regional Commission and numerous CID's and other stakeholders.
