PURPOSE:

To consider authorizing the purchase of two vehicles for the Community Development Department in an amount not to exceed $89,928. 

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The Community Development Department’s Homeless Outreach staff conducts daily engagement efforts in all areas of DeKalb County to locate, identify, and build relationships with unsheltered homeless people to provide immediate assessment, intake, and referrals to emergency housing.  Workers will also use vehicles to transport homeless participants to shelter sites.

 

Additionally, efforts to conduct Demolitions, Environmental reviews, and Special Purpose Home Repairs require constant travel. 

                     Vehicle #1 - Chevrolet Equinox - $29,329.00

                     Vehicle #2 - Chevrolet Tahoe -    $60,599.00

                                                             Total -    $89,928.00

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

No Cost to the County.   - Source of Funds - HUD grant - CDBG-CV

 

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

To approve the purchase of two vehicles for the Community Development Department in an amount not to exceed $89,928. Add the two vehicles to the DeKalb County Fleet; and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents.
