Intergovernmental Agreement between DeKalb County and the City of Decatur, Georgia for Greenspace Facilities at the Children’s Home Property

PURPOSE:

To consider approving an intergovernmental agreement between the County and the City of
Decatur, to be used for park and greenspace improvements in conjunction with the City of Decatur’s
redevelopment of the Children’s Home Property, to include approximately 22 acres of greenspace

 

NEED/IMPACT:

This intergovernmental agreement is intended to support the creation of additional park and greenspace for use by DeKalb County residents, and signifies a mutually beneficial, efficient and cooperative working relationship between the two governments.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

On or before July 26, 2017, the County shall pay to the City Eight Hundred Thousand Dollars ($800,000) from the proceeds of the Special Recreation Tax District General Obligation Bonds, Series 2001 (the “Funds”), which Funds shall be used by the City solely for the purpose of undertaking the Projects, as such term is defined in the agreement.

Adopt the attached intergovernmental agreement and related exhibits, and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents.
