PURPOSE:
To consider accepting grant award in the amount of $60,992 from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council to provide substance abuse and mental health treatment services to youth in the Rebound Drug Court program.
To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer and/or his designee to execute the grant agreement and all necessary documents.
NEED/IMPACT:
The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council awarded the DeKalb County Juvenile Court funding for the continuation of treatment services to youth enrolled in the Rebound Drug Court program. The purpose of this program is to serve at-risk youth within DeKalb County who have become involved in the court and have admitted to substance use. Rebound serves male juvenile offenders between the ages of 14 and 17. The program includes intensive court and community supervision; individual and family treatment; tutoring; prevention services; and mentoring.
The grant award will fund the employment of contracted personnel to include a part-time program case manager and treatment providers; drug testing supplies; CJCC training and conferences; and transportation services. The award requires a 10% cash match in the amount of $6,777. The grant period is July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019. The amount awarded is $60,992.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The award will provide additional funds to Juvenile Courts overall grants budget.
