PURPOSE:
To consider accepting and appropriating up to $8,000.64 from the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) into project 101949 for construction of the South Stone Mountain-Lithonia Road Bicycle and Pedestrian Facilities project (GDOT PI#0006899/0007621); and
To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents for completion of the project.
NEED/IMPACT:
The South Stone Mountain-Lithonia Road Bicycle/Pedestrian Facilities Project involves the construction of bicycle lanes, both directions, and a sidewalk on the east side South Stone Mountain-Lithonia Road from Poole Street in the City of Stone Mountain to Rockbridge Road. On November 12, 2013 and March 8, 2015, the Board of Commissioners approved accepting a total of $3,377,821 in GDOT funds for the project.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The additional GDOT funds will fully fund the construction contract which has been awarded to SD&C, Inc. Additional CIP funds in the amount of $150,000 will be needed this year or in 2018 to fully fund the construction management of this project.
