PURPOSE:

To consider approving the FY 22 Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN): Community Policing Microgrant Program award and
To consider accepting $14,670.00 from the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) and appropriating that amount to the Grant Fund for spending in compliance with the grantor’s requirements and
To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute the necessary documents.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

PSN is a nationwide network designed to create safe neighborhoods by reducing crime, gang, and gun violence and sustaining that reduction.  Funding from this award will purchase supplies DeKalb Police public awareness initiatives, including gun safety reminders, entering auto signs, and Connect DeKalb.  DKPD will utilize the Community Policing Unit and Public Information Officer to disburse educational material at public safety fairs and community events.

Recommended Action

To approve the FY 22 Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN): Community Policing Microgrant Program award and to accept $14,670.00 from the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC), and appropriate that amount to the Grant Fund for spending in compliance with the grantor’s requirements; and to approve the resolution and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents.
