PURPOSE:
To approve a District 6 Reserve for Appropriations of an amount not to exceed $10,000.00 to assist in the mandatory repairs, mold remediation, and renovation repairs to the Clarkston Community Center caused by flood damage this summer causing a financial hardship and loss of critical operating support.

NEED/IMPACT:
The Clarkston Community Center is the nucleus of Clarkston providing a safe and welcoming "place" for our immigrant and refugee community. They wholistically meet the special needs of this community by providing classes to assist people in acclimating to a new culture and language and special events to update people on the current status of our laws pertaining to refugees and immigrants. The center is also the community resource for youth academically, socially, and personally by providing programs during the school year and the Summer, along with meeting critical needs of the seniors, senior refugees, and adults by improving their lives through education and community-building.

Clarkston Community Center is a non-profit organization that depends greatly on grants and a small revenue from facility rental. This summer the facility experienced weather-related flood damage that has impacted their operating budget and ability to maximize rental opportunities to make ends meet.
