PURPOSE:
Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence has a history of providing life changing support to DeKalb County victims of domestic violence. They have received previous funding from Commissioner Reserves for Appropriation, CARES ACT and ARPA. This District 6 ARPA allocation (not to exceed) $65,000.00 from D6 POETA account tranche 1 and tranche 2 to the Women's Resource Center to End Domestic Violence assists women and children impacted by the myriad of ramifications of the COVID 19 pandemic
NEED/IMPACT:
There continues to be an uptick in domestic violence related issues as people are still navigating through the individual impacts of COVID and for some, recovery is still a challenge which presents in triggers that without a safety intervention may result in catastrophic injury or even death. Funding of $35,000 to ensure that prospective and current clients are prepared for an escape plan to safety and/or to assist with resources to help address the court related process and $30,000.00 for the resources to support the children through the trauma that domestic violence creates
