PURPOSE:
To Appropriate an Amount Not to Exceed $30,000 to Superior Court for the Law Clinic. This clinic will provide civil legal consultations only, including but not limited to:
•General Civil Disputes or General Contractual
•Divorces, Name Changes, Temporary Protective Orders
•Probate Matters (Guardianship, Wills, & Estates; pending approval from Chief Probate Judge)
•NO appellate cases
NEED/IMPACT:
The clinic is designed to provide limited-scope legal consultations to DeKalb County residents and individuals with civil cases within DeKalb County. This initiative aims to increase access to justice by connecting individuals with qualified attorneys for guidance on civil legal matters in a structured, accessible, and recurring format.
FISCAL IMPACT:
To Appropriate an Amount Not to Exceed $30,000 to Superior Court for the Law Clinic from the District 3 Reserve for Appropriation (00203.579002.100.000.0000)
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
To approve the allocation of $30,000 from the District 3 Reserve for Appropriation and authorize the Chief Executive Officer or her designee to execute all necessary documents.
