Acceptance of GDOT Safety Funds for Roadway Pavement Marking and Signage Improvements

PURPOSE:
To consider accepting and appropriating up to $230,000.00 in funds from the Georgia Department of Transportation for pavement marking and roadway signage improvements on certain county roads;
To consider reserving $200,000.00 of SPLOST funds from line item 1B - Federal and State Transportation Project Matching Funds for Transportation Purposes as the local match; and
To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents to complete the project.
NEED/IMPACT:
GDOT Safety Action Plan funds are available to DeKalb County for updates to roadway pavement markings and for replacement of roadway signs on certain county roads. In the limited time available to prepare an application for these funds, road segments that were in immediate need of new pavement markings and signs were picked from a GDOT list of eligible roads. GDOT approved the application and the selected roadway segments are shown on the attached list.
FISCAL IMPACT:
SPLOST funds in the amount of $200,000.00 will cover the cost of the county match.
