PURPOSE:
The allocation will assist seniors and disabled homeowners with critical home repairs managed by DeKalb County Community Development and Community Neighbor In Need programs.
Neighbors in Need (NIN) Program provides emergency home repairs for low-income elderly homeowners. This initiative is grassroots, relationship-based, block-by-block effort to improve seniors' lives.
NEED/IMPACT:
This funding is being provided to aid District 3 Seniors who need critical home repairs. Eligible seniors can apply to receive assistance through the DeKalb County Community Development Department. Each applicant could be awarded up to $1000 for home repairs. The administration and implementation of the program will be managed by Community Development.
The Neighbor in Needs Program Neighbors (NIN) Program provides emergency home repairs for low-income elderly homeowners. This initiative will provide the services for the eligible seniors based on their home repair needs from the Neighbor in Needs program. Each NIN will receive $60,000 to provide services to the seniors for emergency home repairs.
