PURPOSE:

To consider authorizing the payment of $152,640 to Georgia Power for the repair of street lights along Memorial Drive from Candler Road to Covington Highway; and
To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents pertaining to this project.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The theft of copper wiring along Memorial Drive has resulted in the loss of power to 114 street lights along Memorial Drive.  The proposed repairs will replace the stolen copper wiring with aluminum wiring that is less likely to be stolen. The proposed work will also include repairs to 80 damaged light bases.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Risk Management funding is covering the cost of these repairs.

Recommended Action

To authorize the payment of $152,640 to Georgia Power for repair of street lights along Memorial Drive from Candler Road to Covington Highway; and

To authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents pertaining to this project.
