PURPOSE:
The purpose of this Agenda Item is to provide funding for the DeKalb Police Athletic League to enhance the playground and basketball court spaces used for youth programming. The enhancement is being managed by DeKalb County Facilities Management Department which will receive the funds from District 7.
NEED/IMPACT:
This funding request supports enhancements to playground and basketball court spaces used by the DeKalb Police Athletic League for youth programming, directly contributing to community safety, wellness, and engagement. By investing in these recreational areas, the County promotes positive youth development, strengthens relationships between law enforcement and residents, and provides equitable access to safe, structured environments that foster physical activity, mentorship, and neighborhood pride—all of which align with DeKalb’s broader goals of empowerment, inclusion, and public safety.
