PURPOSE:

The attached Equipment Lease-Purchase Agreement for two way radios and broadcasting equipment and accessories for DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office is to provide critical communication in the DeKalb County Jail, Court Operations, Field Operations and throughout the entire county utilizing the same two-way radio and broadcasting equipment as the County’s public safety sectors (DKPD, E911 Dispatch, etc.).

NEED/IMPACT:

The equipment is essential for all radio communications with the County’s public safety sector for the seamless emergency management response that law enforcement provides to the citizens of the County, Jail, Court and Field Operations.  The equipment will replace DKSO current antiquated radio and broadcasting equipment that has exceeded its life expectancy and the antiquated model is no longer manufacturer, replacement parts no longer exist, and the manufacturer no longer services the equipment.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The DKSO is piggybacking off the competitively Statewide Contract (SWC 980-2800008) for the purchase of the equipment listed on Schedule A.  This request is to approve a 3-year lease-purchase of two-way radio and broadcasting equipment and accessories awarded to Motorola Solutions, Inc. in the amount not to exceed $3,077,424.03.

RECOMMENDATION:
