PURPOSE:
To consider authorizing the payment of $107,588.00 to CSX Transportation, Inc. for construction phase services related to the DeKalb Avenue Quiet Zone Project; To consider reserving $107,588.00 of SPLOST I funds from line item 1B - Federal and State Project Matching Funds for Transportation Purposes for this payment; and; To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents to facilitate this work.
NEED/IMPACT:
The CSX agreement will allow for the construction of the DeKalb Avenue Quiet Zone, including CSX installing 12ft HIRAIL full depth rubber crossing surface at the location to provide a safe surface for pedestrians and bicycles to traverse. This project will make safety improvements at the crossing that will, in combination with a GDOT project to install gates, make the crossing eligible for a railroad quiet zone.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$107,588.00 of Category 1B SPLOST I funds will be used to cover this cost
