NEED/IMPACT:
Atlanta Roller Derby is a volunteer-run, nonprofit sports organization dedicated to fostering inclusivity, athleticism, and community engagement-particularly for BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals-through competitive roller derby, youth programs, and leadership development. This funding will expand DeKalb County District 2’s ability to offer inclusive, accessible, and culturally rich recreational opportunities for residents. By partnering with Atlanta Roller Derby, District 2 can enhance its community engagement footprint-providing ASL interpretation, sensory-friendly spaces, affordable access to events, youth development programs, and monthly festivals that spotlight local businesses, nonprofits, and artists. These initiatives will not only sustain the county’s existing commitment to diversity, accessibility, and community wellness, but also strengthen its capacity to reach marginalized groups, create new economic opportunities, and foster long-term civic pride.
