PURPOSE:
To consider authorizing the payment of $32,957 to CSX Transportation, Inc. for preliminary engineering services related to the Redan Road at South Stone Mountain Lithonia Road traffic signal project;
To consider reserving $32,957 of SPLOST funds from line 1D - Transportation Enhancements for a new traffic signal at the Redan Road at South Stone Mountain Lithonia Road intersection; and
To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents for completion of the project.
NEED/IMPACT:
The proposed traffic signal for Redan Road at South Stone Mountain Lithonia Road is in close proximity to a CSX railroad crossing. As a result, CSX will need to design changes to their crossing in order to properly coordinate the crossing signal with the new traffic signal. The requested preliminary engineering funds will enable CSX to proceed with their design.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$32,957 of Category 1D SPLOST funds will be used to cover this cost. Future appropriations will be needed to construct the traffic signal and related improvements.
