PURPOSE:

To accept the benefits, terms, and conditions of the 2023 SAFER Grant number EMW-2023-FF-01467 from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, in the amount of $6,843,998.10 in Federal Funding.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The SAFER grant program provides direct funding to fire departments and volunteer firefighter interested organizations to assist in increasing the number of firefighters to help communities meet industry minimum standards and obtain 24-hour staffing to provide adequate protection from fire and fire-related hazards, and to fulfill traditional missions of fire departments. The funding will assist the department in meeting NFPA 1710 standards assembly requirements, resulting in increased safety and efficiency. The grant performance period is from 03/22/2025 through 03/21/2028 and will provide staffing for an additional 30 firefighters. 

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

This grant has no match requirement and is 100% funded through federal funds.
