PURPOSE:

Pursuant to Section 13A where the chief executive officer shall nominate an individual for confirmation by the board of commissioners CEO Thurmond nominates Ms. Hillary Gardner for appointment to the DeKalb County Public Library Board of Trustees in the position of Post 4. This is a four (4) year term which will expire December 31, 2027.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The operation of the DeKalb County Public Library is legally vested in the Board of Trustees under the provision of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, Title 20, Chapter 5, Article 40. Per the Constitution and By-Laws of the DeKalb County Public Library eight (8) county appointees from the public at-large serve on the Board of Trustees along with two municipal appointees, the CEO, and the Executive Assistant to the CEO. Appointees serve four (4) year terms and can be reappointed for a total of three (3) consecutive terms.

 

Ms. Gardner is a resident of Dunwoody and works as a Senior Corporate Counsel and as the Chief Compliance Officer for Credigy Solutions, Inc. Ms. Gardner serves on the Board of Directors for the ALS Association of Georgia, and she is a member of the National Association of Women Lawyers. Ms. Gardner will fill the vacancy in the Post 4 seat left by Mr. Jamil Zainaldin.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

No cost to the County.

To approve the appointment of Hillary Gardner to Post 4 for a four-year term effective from January 1, 2024 and expiring on December 31, 2027.
