PURPOSE:

To consider accepting $775,218 for Stone Mountain Judicial Circuit consisting of: Superior Court Sheriff’s
Office. The Grant was awarded by the State ARPA to handle the backlog of serious violent felony cases due to
the COVID-19 Pandemic.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

Judicial Council of Georgia Ad Hoc Committee on American Rescue Plan Act Additional Funding (“ARPA Committee”) has awarded $775,218.00 to Stone Mountain Judicial Circuit consisting of: Superior Court and, Sheriff’s Office, to handle the back log of serious violent felony cases due to the COVID 19 Pandemic. Funding will be used for personnel expenses (Senior Judges and Deputy Sheriffs Reservist.)

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Funding for all services provided Judicial Council of Georgia Ad Hoc Committee on American Rescue Plan Act

in the amount of $775,218.00. Funding must be spent by December 31, 2025.

 

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

To approve the resolution and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents. To accept $775,218.00 for from the Judicial Council of Georgia Ad Hoc Committee on American Rescue Plan Act Funding and appropriate the amount to a new Grant Fund
