PURPOSE:
To rescind agenda item 2023-0036 substitute approved 4-11-2023 for an $125.000.00 over a two-year period from District 6 ARP appropriations to Clarkston Community Health Center (CCHC) to provide medical equipment at the new CCHC facility located at 4038 Rockbridge Rd. This need for this funding has been revised. The DeKalb ARP Working Group has confirmed this request to revise this funding to support Community Health Workers (equivalent of 4 FTE) qualifies for ARP funding. Pursuant to the ARP final rule, the funds must be obligated, or the costs incurred, by December 31, 2024 and will be spent by December 31, 2026.
NEED/IMPACT:
The Clarkston Community Health Center (CCHC) is requesting a change in the purpose of the $125,000 that was allocated to CCHC earlier this year. The original purpose was to be used for purchasing medical equipment. The updated and revised purpose is to use these funds to hire Community Health Workers that will provide patient navigation services in this area. This request is being made due to the urgent need to provide critical services to DeKalb County's disenfranchised, immigrants and refugees who felt the greatest impacts from the ramifications of COVID 19 by serving as a bridge to historically marginalized and/or newcomer communities to improve overall access to healthcare services.
