PURPOSE:

To approve an agreement between the DeKalb County School District and the DeKalb County Government.  The DeKalb School District agrees to provide daily meals for the 2026 Summer Food Service Program.  The meals will be provided at 11 DeKalb County facilities and served to its summer day campers.  The meals will be prepared by the DeKalb County School District as outlined in the attached agreement. The program is scheduled to run from June 4, 2026 - July 20, 2026.

NEED/IMPACT:

During the school year, many children receive free and reduced meals through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).  When school recesses for summer, these children are at risk of hunger.  The 2026 Summer Food Service Program will address this concern by providing two meals a day for those in need at the DeKalb County summer camps and other agencies in DeKalb County communities.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Fiscal Year 2026 funding to reimbursed by the State of Georgia.   The County anticipates the 2026 program not to exceed $555,191.62.

RECOMMENDATION:
