PURPOSE:
?To consider approving the FY18 Bulletproof Vest Program (BVP) Grant from the US Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs; and
?To consider accepting $67,179.88 from the US Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs and appropriating that amount to the Grant Fund along with appropriating the required match of $67,179.88 to the respective match fund for spending in compliance with the grantor's requirements; and
?To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute the necessary documents.
NEED/IMPACT:
The Bulletproof Vest Partnership (BVP) Program helps protect the lives of law enforcement officers by assisting state, local, and tribal governments equip their officers with vests. The program pays up to 50% of the cost of vests purchased by jurisdictions. The Police Department and the Sheriff's Office will share $67,179.88. The grant and matching funds are to be distributed as outlined below.
