PURPOSE:

To seek approval for the Board of Commissioners to accept the donation of 1,000 units of DETECT smoke alarms model 20SD10.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

Receiving 1,000 donated smoke alarms will significantly enhance public safety by reducing fire related deaths.  These alarms will feature a 10-year sealed battery to allow for compressive, free installation in high-risk homes, in conjunction with fire safety education to assist residents with creating a vital evacuation plan.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

No fiscal impact to DeKalb County, the 1,000 donated smoke alarms are valued at $34,970.
